Senior Site Manager

This would be a permanent/salaried position with the first project being in the Moray area.

If you are not based locally there will be subsistence provided to cover costs for working away from home.

As Senior Site Manager, you’ll be responsible for:

To be responsible for the planning, execution and delivery of a project, or of a section of a large project. The post holder will also manage and lead other members of the construction team.

Provide assistance to the Project Manager as and when required. Fulfil the role of Project Manager (supported by the Operations Manager) during periods of Project Manager unavailability.

DUTIES

• To ensure dimensional controls are in place from the outset, and are utilised accordingly.
• Provide leadership, guidance and mentoring to members of the project team as appropriate.
• Hold informal 1-to-1s and formal staff appraisals with your team members as required.
• Complete daily site diary as outlined on BIM 360 Field platform.
• Responsible for the co-ordination and control of the project, including staff, labour and sub-contractors, from the construction phase through to completion and handover to the Client.
• Liaise with the Labour & Productivity Manager to ensure adequate labour resource is available on site as required, fully complying with the Labour & Productivity Procedure.
• Plan, implement and monitor site logistics.
• Ensure compliance with Quality Control and Quality Management policies, processes and procedures.
• Effectively manage any project delays.
• Regular monitoring and liaison with the Project Manager/Planning Manager on the Construction Programme, and development of short-term programmes as required.
• Ensure compliance with the Health & Safety Management System (HSMS).
• Organise and chair sub-contractor progress meetings, site safety meetings, co-ordination meetings, and any other meetings as necessary to ensure the project operates efficiently.
• Ensure all project documentation is completed as outlined within the Project Quality Plan.
• Effectively communicate with the Design Team to ensure the timely release of design information based upon the IRS.
• Create and maintain good relations with clients, design teams and neighbours as well as any other stakeholders.
• Manage plant and material procurement in line with the programme and budget, paying particular attention to long-lead items.
• Control and monitor site waste in accordance with the SmartWaste platform.
• Continually develop knowledge of innovative construction techniques and products to improve the business
• Assist in the recruitment and selection process as and when required.
• Contribute to the Company’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.
• Liaise with Statutory Authorities and Local Authorities as required by the project.
• At all times to represent the company in the best possible way, be courteous and professional working to the highest ethical standards.
• Ad hoc duties assigned by your line manager in connection with operational requirements ensuring works are completed within required time frames.

• Identify value engineering to maximise commercial returns to the business

• Ensure that the management of bids, from early design stages through to site commencement, is progressed in line with the tender programme and that costs related to the design are fully understood and the company’s position is contractually protected and margin opportunities maximised
• Prepare comprehensive handover documentation of successful tenders from the pre-construction to operational teams and assist in the early integration where necessary.
• Any other duties which may be allocated to you from time to time by the Senior Bid Manager and Directors

• A formal construction related academic qualification is preferred (Bsc Honours) or equivalent.
• Commercially astute.
• IT literate and numerate.

This would be a permanent position and you will be based in the Inverness area initially.

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you’ll be responsible for:

Liaise with the operational management team and advise on all matters relating to Contract and Commercial issues
Maintain accurate financial control systems and report monthly on Cost/Value Reconciliation
Liaise with and advise on all financial aspects of contracts, ensuring that valuations are maximised, certified and paid on time
Monitor progress on site and take a lead issuing required notices in accordance with contract procedures and timescales
Prepare forecasts of cost and value of all trades including Preliminaries, monitor and report on same
Prepare Preliminaries budgets in association with contract staff, monitor and report on same

Ensure that regular meetings are held to agree variations and not left to the final account stage
Assist with estimating as and when required
Ensure that tenders are accurate and delivered on time
Manage subcontractors accounts accurately and effectively to enhance contract performance
Identify the training and development needs of staff and provide the necessary support and action when required
Assist the Contracts Manager, as required, securing labour, materials and Sub-contractors to ensure that contracts are completed on time and within budget
Ensure work is carried out in accordance with the Company’s Health and Safety Policy & Quality Manual
At all times to represent the company in the best possible way, be courteous and professional working to the highest ethical standards
Ad hoc duties assigned by your line manager in connection with operational requirements ensuring works are completed within required time frames

This would be a permanent position and you will be based in the Moray area initially.

Responsibilities:

As Site Engineer, you’ll be responsible for:

• Liaise with the Customer, Clients and Design Team to ensure that the correct information for setting out is obtained and made available in sufficient time and that all revised drawings and alterations to design are incorporated into the works timeously.
• To keep detailed and accurate records of all setting out information, dates etc.
• To be aware of the construction programmes in order that setting out can be planned in advance of the dates when the works are to commence.
• To coordinate public utilities and obtain contemporary records of existing services located in the vicinity of the works.
• To liaise with the Local Authority Roads, Drainage and Lighting Departments to facilitate the works and obtain permits and warrants etc.
• To assist the site management to develop Method Statements and Risk Assessments together with the Construction Phase Health and Safety Plan and to observe the requirement of the CDM Regulations in the status of Principal Contractor.
• To assist the site management with the taking off of building materials.
• Comply with the requirements of the Company’s Quality Procedure Manual.
• Supervise the quality of the works as delegated by site management.
• Plan areas of works identifying requirements for temporary works and plant.
• To assist the commercial department in the re-measurement of the works and to ensure that all additional works and design variations are recorded and reimbursed by the client.
• To provide assistance with new tendering opportunities, surveys, bulk earthworks quantities and Value Engineering etc.
• Carry out training and development of other members of staff in engineering skills.
• To carry out other duties as reasonably assigned by site management
• Aim for high productivity
• Continuously assess accuracy of all works
• Provide accurate setting out information on time.
• Strive to reduce costs and complete contract within budget.
• Assist with re-measurement and valuation of the project.
• Build relationships with client, subcontractors & supply chain.
• Maintain Company profile on quality.
• Previous supervisory experience in construction industry is advantageous.
• Qualified to Degree/HND Civil Engineering preferred.
• CSCS card scheme to management level (minimum level 3)
• SMSTS or SSSTS required.
• Knowledge of various surveying equipment is desirable.
• CAD Knowledge and knowledge of ground modelling is desirable.
• Ability to communicate with employees and direct labour.
• Ability to convey necessary information to Workforce, Sub-contractors and Clients.
• Ability to build relationships with the Client’s management team.
• Temporary Works Co-ordinator is desirable.
